Chapter 4 Lab

There is a case in London where lawyers from the firm Davenport Lyons are demanding compensation from someone they claim illegally downloaded a single game from a file-sharing service called BitTorrent.  The firm claims they have evidence from a “forensic computer analysis” that proves that the Pro PC reader being accused did in fact download the game Two Worlds.  The specifics of the evidence were not given in the article, but the firm seems confident that their client will be fully reimbursed for the damages caused, one way or another.  If the suspect refuses to pay what they are requesting more legal action is inevitable, and if found guilty, a higher penalty would be assessed through the courts.

I think it is clear that the forensic evidence is the only reason the firm will have so much leverage if this goes to trial.  Without the computer forensic evidence, there wouldn’t be much of a case for the firm to present.
